Reliving the past

Spam,

I know you agree with me that this season of AI is kind of boring. I didn’t even watch last night’s Idol Gives Back show! So, click here and relive the 20 best performances of AI’s past. Which one is your fav?

Here are mine:

I love Allison and this performance was great.

This is the only performance I downloaded after the show. I still love listening to it!!

This was the first season I started watching AI and out of all the seasons I have watched since, this is the only performance I can truly remember.

Cheers to AI’s of the past to keep us entertained (because Lord knows this season is not holding our attention),

Oscar faves

Fame,

I only caught the Oscars from about 8:45 on. My favorite three things from that time forward are…

  • Sandra Bullock’s acceptance speech - so classy, humble, thankful, beautiful, and funny.
  • Jeff Bridges winning Best Actor - Crazy Heart is the only one of ten best pic nominees I saw this year. AND, he is just cool. Check out his website sometime.
  • The dance bit for the Best Soundtrack nominations, and I cannot find a video of it, but it was exceptional.

LOVE ME,

and my never ending search for the dance bit video… it’s really driving me crazy. Seriously, no one used their cell phone to record their TV while this part was airing? People do that all the time, and it normally bugs the sh** out of me. I’m willing to make an exception at the moment.

He’s the judge… and he didn’t know it.

Famous!

Today I wanted to talk about the guys on AI. Last week I gave my females’ opinion, but because they switched it up - you get girl talk again.

Jayson’s the judge, and he didn’t even know it. He actually watched again last night, and when he went into the laundry room he requested I turn it up so he could keep listening. He’s hooked a bit… whether he admits it or not. Unbeknownst to him, I took note of his comments. Here we go.

“If she gets kicked off, I’m not watching anymore.” Didi is obviously one of his faves.

“They’re on crack.” He did not approve of Michelle’s performance. Kara thought it was her best ever, and even Simon liked it.

“She’s got a little John Mayer in her. I like her, but I can’t watch her.” This is about Lily’s facial expressions. Some time ago Jayson had mentioned to me that when John Mayer sings, he looks like he’s trying to wriggle out of his skin.

Another Lily moment, “Feather’s in her hair?” Ellen commented that you hear people say, “You’ve got it,” Ellen doesn’t know what ‘it’ is, but Lily’s got it. “Feathers in her hair?”

“She’s got a fat girl’s voice, just when she talks.”  This was during Katelyn’s little video package. I don’t get it, but I laughed out loud when he said it.

“Are there any rockers on this show?”

“So many boring songs.” I actually agree.

My opinion - Thank you, Paige and Siobhan, for picking up the mood. And thank you Siobhan for hitting that wonderful high note that I had to rewind so Jayson could see it. He was fixing something in the bathroom and really wanted me to be impressed, but I was more impressed with you at this moment. He noticed.

I won’t repeat what he has to say about Kara. He is definitely not fond of her, even if he agrees with her. But most of the time he agrees with Simon, especially when Simon looks at Kara and says, “I have no idea what you just said.”

And finally, “He has 7 words in his vocabulary,” referring to Randy. At this point Jayson may have caught on to what I was doing, because he looked at me and said, “Go ahead. You can write that down.”

MY FAVES:
Didi, Lily, Katelyn, and yes… Siobhan that funny, odd, little thing.
Lee, Andrew, Alex (even with his awkward cowboy mullet), and Michael.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. What do you have planned? I’m excited you are coming in April for the spin-a-thon thing. How’s the house stuff coming along?

LOVE ME,

And my very own personal, live-in, AI judge who got the downstairs bathtub to drain while I was swooning over Siobhan’s big note,

Spam,

That is great! I have to admit, I haven’t watched a full episode of the Jersey Shore. But I think I may have to catch it during a marathon weekend. Or I’ll watch it online. I did see Snookie on the Leno show one night. Ben and I were asking each other, “Who is this chick?!” And, “Can she say guido on tv?” Well, I guess it’s cool to be a guido or guidette, right? Here I am as a guidette…

Do guidettes only wear pink flip-flops?

Cheers to the Bumpit (which Snookie says she does NOT wear, but it allows all us other ladies to pretend we are from Jersey and know how to tease our hair that high),

One Shot, Son! One Shot.

And Guidettes.

Famous,

Please tell me you watch Jersey Shore! Or at least one or two episodes! I know it’s probably over-hyped right now, especially since they agreed on the $$ for the second season. But, yes, I’m falling in line with the herd of fans because I adore the cast. My name is Spamanda, and I’m a Jersey watcher! I wasn’t going to bring it up, but here is what happened.

It started by periodically catching a few minutes here or there, probably while Real Housewives of Orange County was at commercial breaks. And then, I couldn’t stop. So really, I probably saw about 65 - 75% of the season, and watching the reunion show made me wish I had the entire season on DVD to watch right now.

Occasionally at night, Jayson and I will listen to a pod cast. Usually it’s a wrestling review, or the Sports Guy reviewing something sport-sy but throwing in some pop-culture references. Well, my options a couple of nights ago were something Sports Guy that had to do with sports, or something Sports Guy reviewing Jersey Shore, or wrestling. At first I chose wrestling because Jayson watched JS for about 2 minutes and decided he was not interested. Too much “mad weird” and “mad crazy” for him. He let me choose the JS review anyway! Yesss. I stayed up until midnight to listen to the entire thing. So if you are interested, I highly recommend this review: Sports Guy review of Jersey Shore (The BS report 1/26).

Here is a short list of how I feel about the cast, and whether or not I would invite them to my party:

http://www.mtv.com/shows/jersey_shore/series.jhtml

Angelina - Who the hell is Angelina? Oh, that’s right. She chose to leave after like one episode or something, so I never even saw an episode with her in it.  I’d invite you because I’m nice, but if you bail after like 10 minutes because you have something more important to do, I won’t invite you anymore. Moving on.

J-WOWW - I think they were hoping she would be a little  more drama. She has a boyfriend at home, and this is probably where they expected more drama - faithful or not?  She was pretty tame throughout the show (her breasts are not), but she hung out (literally) and had a good time. So really until she back-handed punchy-thinged Mike in one of the later episodes, she didn’t do much except dance and have a good time. Definitely will be the first one to have a sex-tape get out to the media. She’s probably a good friend. I guess she can come to my party.

Mike “The Situation” - The actual word ’situation’ should no longer be allowed in everyday conversational language. In the dictionary, it should just have his name as the definition. This word came up in a pretty serious conversation at work the other day, and I had to giggle. I can’t hear it and not think of Mike. The poor guy just wanted to get laid all summer, and brought plenty of girls back to the house, but not sure if anything ever really happened. Maybe with Snooki. Other than being a total smart-ass who is sometimes a little full of himself, he keeps it real. He is absolutely invited to my party.

Sammi “Sweetheart” - Absolutely not. Sammi “Sucky heart.” This girl really sucks. She’s an instigator who then thinks she’s the victim of what she instigated. Just stop you fun-sucker. I’m surprised someone didn’t slap you this season. What party? Hell no.

Nicole “Snooki” - I honestly didn’t know until just now that Nicole is her real name. The entire cast called her every version of Snooki - Snook’ems, Snickers, Snicks, Snooks. And LISTEN UP Sammi, I think Snooki is the real sweetheart. How can you not love this adorable, fun-loving, good-time having, looking for love kinda Guidette? She’s invited to my party anytime. But, her 80’s hair clips are not.

DJ Pauly D - He’s the loyal cutie pie. The true wing man who doesn’t really talk shit and always stands by his bros. He usually takes one for the team, an ugly one, so that the other team member can get the hotter one. Plus, I’m pretty sure he’s keeping some hair gel company in business. He’s also invited to my party anytime.

Ronnie - This little power house is kind of a cutie too, but a sucker for his drama mama, Sammi. WTF, Ronnie. You can do better. On the reunion show, everyone decided you were the best dancer. Not sure if there is a best dancer in the group, but at least it’s entertaining. But seriously, kick the chick to the curb and then you can come to my party. Oh, and don’t punch anyone, son.

Vinny - The true mama’s boy. He may actually be the most sane one in the group. Just hanging out, having a good time, lovin’ his family and friends. And what a way to spend the summer when you are 21! Please come to my party and bring your mom, or a date.

So there it is. Gym. Tan. Laundry.

LOVE ME,

GTL, baby. One shot son. I’m gonna go stalk some juice head’s whole life.

P.S. I Jersey Shored myself here: I would never wear pink flip-flops with this outfit, but it was the best shoe choice of the two.

Spam,

You totally beat me to it! Yes, I watch the audition rounds of American Idol. I totally fall for the backstories and root for the underdogs. So, I absolutely LOVED “The General” and his “Pants on the Ground” song! I can’t wait to see him again at the finale, because you know they are going to bring this guy back. I had to watch last night’s episode alone. Ben sat through Tuesday night with me and I think he actually enjoyed it, but didn’t want to admit it, so went to another room to play video games last night. He did join me later for the season premiere of Leverage though. This is our new favorite show. And my other favorite show, Criminal Minds, is also on Wednesday nights. This one overlaps with AI, so I only caught the last half hour. Our DVR can only record two shows at once and you have to watch one of the shows that are recording. So, I wasn’t able to watch Modern Family last night. You got me hooked on that one. But at least I can watch that online. There are so many good shows starting again! Another Project Runway starts tonight. And don’t forget that the Golden Globes are this weekend. It’s a good thing I have Monday off because they usually run past my bedtime!

Phew.

And now on to the movies. Where do I start? Maybe with the ones opening the soonest…

Extraordinary Measures (Jan. 22) only because it is really close to what I do…Dear John (Feb. 5) based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. I have never read one yet (I’m not much of a romantic), but this one may be the first…Valentine’s Day (Feb. 12) because even though I’m not a romantic, I still love a good rom-com…Alice in Wonderland (Mar. 5) because, well, I don’t even need to explain this one…Remember Me (Mar. 12) because it will be fun to see RPattz NOT being a vampire…Green Zone (Mar. 12)…because Matt Damon is playing a Jason Bourne-esque role and he looks so good while doing that…Ramona and Beezus (Maybe Mar. 29…imbd says Aug. 13) because I read ALL the Ramona Quimby books as a child and Selena Gomez is in it…Kick Ass (Apr. 16) because Ben is REALLY looking forward to this one and it does look hilarious!

That will get me through winter. And to the next season of Glee. I think I may be going through withdrawls…

Cheers to buttery, movie-theater popcorn (I can almost taste it now),
love, famous

PS. I love that you pointed out the Sioux logo. Seriously, if I see someone down here wearing Sioux gear, I first check to see if I know them (because that is likely since ND has such a small population), then I smile at them. And it’s not weird because EVERYONE from Nodak does it. Also, if I see Nodak license plates, I check to see if I know the driver. Ben still makes fun of me for that one.

Sioux-lebrity, Pants on the Ground, Donate to Haiti

Famous,

Help me compare these two plays on words. Do you prefer Josh Sioux-mel or Sioux-lebrity? Because I think Sioux-lebrity kicks Jayson’s punny butt in this round.

Well, here he is… The SIOUX-LEBRITY!

And, not sure if you ever watch the audition episodes of American Idol, but this is my first time thouroughly paying attention to them. In the past I occasionally caught the early episodes, but mostly watched the show once it narrowed contestants down to 24 or 12. Well, this is a new year, and Jayson does not appreciate it. He literally threw up in his mouth during the show tonight. Don’t know if it was a coincidence or not, but he made sure I knew that it happened while he was watching AI. He only EVER agrees with Simon.  I’m all for watching these audition episodes, as long as there is always a 62-year-old general with an original song.

Also, on a more serious note: There is a donation option to help Haiti by texting “Haiti” to 90999 to send a $10 donation to the Red Cross.

LOVE ME,

Now pull up your pants, you fool with your hat turned sideways.

Can’t wait!

Famous!

Happy 2010! I have two things I’m anxiously awaiting for this year. One in the music category, the other in the movie category.

First - Nikki & Rich
I would describe them as “new school,” a term I’m making up. Their music is the new style of some old school  stuff  (similar to the new school stylings of Amy Winehouse or Duffy). But they describe themselves best as: Lauryn Hill meets The Supremes while hanging out with Alicia Keys listening to Outkast “Hey Yah”

I’ve posted videos below. I dare you to not shake or tap a body part! LOVE it.

Second - Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland
See the trailer on the website above, or here. What gorgeous and kooky make-up!

Nikki & Rich:

Aren’t they lovely!

LOVE ME,
And my new knocker (Yep, I got one new knocker). More on that later… it’s something else I’m anxiously awaiting!
