Have you seen the commercials for the Goody Spin Pin? I hadn’t either when Kara mentioned them to me. However, when I do not feel like washing or styling or doing anything at all to my hair, not even brushing, I have 2 go-to styles - braid or bun. For a bun, something like this, but usually a little tighter because I don’t do all the bobby pin stuff, and I have to use elastic bands. And for a braid, I usually go side braid. Finally, I saw the commercial.

Ok, looks pretty good. But, my hair is heavy. And the longer it gets, even a pony tail can cause a headache. It’s mysteriously heavy, because it’s not super thick (your hair kicks my hair’s butt in thickness). I once had over 90 bobby pins in my hair for an up-do for a wedding. HEAVY. Moving on… saw the ad. Then, Kara came to work one day, and she had them in - no pony tail holder or other pins necessary. I caved, and bought some. And, OH HAPPY DAY, bun-day may be replacing braid-day as my #1 go-to.  It’s not too tight. I have no headache. It’s not slipping out, or hanging down. They are worth it!! A+.

I came across this video on the blog, My Favorite and My Best. I think it is poking fun at the recent re-emergence of leggings.

I hope you are laughing! And don’t you think we see more than our fair share of this atrocity while working on a college campus?! These girls were not around in the eighties when we learned that any type of spandex on our bottom half must be balanced by a top that is 3 sizes too big (which then covers the unsightly shape of one’s booty in said spandex). We should maybe print this and hand it out to the offenders. We are only two people, but we can make a difference.

Hi Famous!

I’m so glad you visited this weekend. Our spin team was awesome! I really really really need to visit The Cities this summer. Maybe Jayson and I can do a weekend trip - baseball, shopping, visiting…

I still really need to get some house pictures up, but at least you got to stop by and see it in person! Since I don’t have house pictures, here are some other things I’d like to share - things I like right now.

• Shop Ruche round-up! Rapunzel Scarf, Garland Necklace, Countess Shoes, Off to Emerald City Dress
• This movie looks… interesting.
• MANDR - pictures everyday (sometimes audio, sometimes video)
• Marimekko and the Original Fat Boy.
• This video (She was on Ellen!!). I had to watch it again, and again- the “float, float, flo, flo fl fl fl, Who’s in the hooouse?” part kills me… I’m going to watch it again right now!

I’ve found something really fabulous to assist in redecorating a home. Not just moodboards, but a place online to create your own moodboard specifically for your home design, and I heart it. Here’s what I’ve completed so far…

Bathroom - Grey walls with white and silver fixtures, and yellow and black accents

Living room - sage walls, tan and brown furnishings, and warm accent colors

It’s true that you can’t be incredibly picky. The site doesn’t offer exactly the items or colors you may be looking for, but at least you can find inspiration if your starting from scratch.

Note: If you plan to use the mydeco feature, create an account before you begin your mood board, otherwise you won’t be able to save your hard work! There is also a feature for designing a 3D room that I have not attempted - just seems like too much work, and I’m not that motivated.

Tonight I’m tackling wallpaper removal for the first time. I know it’s not difficult, just time consuming. Cross your fingers that there is only one layer! That’s what I’m dreading - to start peeling away the flowers to see… MORE FLOWERS! NOOOOOO!

Since I’m on a home design, interior style kind of kick this weekend, I just love The Selby. Some of my personal faves:

• Nicolas Malleville and Francesca Bonato - look at the tile in this place!
• Elisa Nalin - I don’t know if I could or would do it, but I love that she just has stuff, colorful stuff!
• Nic Briand and Susien Chong - I’ve already stolen the coffee mug idea, and I’m actually making Max a house out of boxes, and I’m sure Jayson would like a Darth Vader on the toilet for some reason.
• Anne, Aimee, and Nathan - what a creative and helpful kitchen cabinet idea!

Did you have a fantastic Holiday? I was in Canada, and although I missed time with my family, I had a wonderful time with my wanna-be-family (no, nothing round and shiny - just fulfilling the request). It was our first full-family vacation - Me, Jayson, Ruby, and Max!

Since 2010 is a few days away, I figured there are all kinds of ‘best of 2009′ lists out there.  So I’ll just share a few (ok, more than a few) here. Last night I went to a combined jewelry/purse party. How do you walk away from that empty handed? It’s impossible.

I’ve never been to this particular brand of jewelry party, though. It’s Stella & Dot. Have you heard of it? The most common comparison I hear is that it’s similar to J.Crew style jewelry. I found that some of the pieces are pricey and some are affordable. But of course all of the embroidered bracelets I like are over $100. Yet,  DEFEAT! I conquered, maintained self-control and did not purchase one!

Here are some of my fave pieces, pricey and affordable. They have earrings, pendants, brooches, and rings, but I’m a sucker for big bold necklaces and bracelets!

How is your patient? I hope his recovery is going well!

Do you remember looking at these pictures a few years ago? I recently came across her blog and keep going back for more. And with my birthday money (yes, I am 28 and still get birthday money in the mail) I bought this:

Isn’t it great?! Irene collaborated with Lori of heartworksbylori to create a line of jewelry using her pictures. There are different pieces on each of their etsy stores, so check both of them.

Once we have a house I am going to buy a few of Irene’s prints for our master bedroom.  I have that room and our basement all planned out. I am keeping track of all my ideas in a notebook so I won’t forget them. Both Ben and I are getting really antsy for our own house again. He’s dreaming of a space for his projector and I am dreaming of a space to decorate. I don’t know how much longer I can wait this out!

I don’t care about Jessica so much, exept she has had a rough year. I really care about Daisy - poor thing.
I had a baby chick once (don’t ask because I didn’t live on a farm). Anyway, our neighbors cat snatched it. I recovered it and had to splint it’s leg with a toothpick. Surprisingly, it worked. I may have shared that with you before.

To lighten the mood, Urban Outfitters is having a FABULOUS September Sale! I might go crazy… be warned online shoppers…

Hi Spamanda,

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I really did have a great birthday. Actually, I had a great birthday weekend. It was filled with friends, great work-outs, movies, relaxing, chocolate cake, and did I mention relaxing?

Anyways, I have to share a list of my new favorites. Here they are, in no particular order:

Dress.

My birthday present. It can be a dress, a tunic, worn alone, worn as a layer, etc., etc., etc. And it has faces of different dogs all over it. SO cute!

Movie.

This movie is ADORABLE. Christina Ricci and James McAvoy are the romantic leads and Reese Witherspoon is not only a supporting actress, but she is also a producer. The colors of the set designs are beautiful and Penelope’s wardrobe is so cute. And the story itself is meaninful and entertaining. Definitely one to show your future daughter. Watch this one!

Snack.

Yogurt-covered pretzels. They just added them to the vending machine at work and are my new favorite mid-afternoon snack. They are a little spendy at $1.50 but I think if I bought a big bag at the grocery store I would end up eating them all in one sitting. So, the small, individual-sized bags are worth the extra money.

Alcohol.

Ace makes a Pear Hard Cider and it is SO GOOD. It is pretty sweet, so I could only have one glass but it is a great alternative to beer or a regular cider. I hope you can find it in GF because I am pretty sure you’d like it too! (it may even be good with yogurt-covered pretzels)

Shampoo.

After one wash and condition my dry hair felt soft and conditioned. I may start washing my hair more often, just because I like it so much!

AI Judge.

I LOVE Ellen and am really excited to see her as the new AI judge. She is going to be a breath of fresh air (CLICHE, I know). I have never heard her say anything mean, but it would’ve been really entertaining to watch her judge the audition rounds. We’ll just have to tune in next season as well.
