They are SO worth it

Hi Spam,

I apologize for my blog absence. I’ll make up for it…I promise!

First, I want to share a little make-over with you…

boys

Don’t they look adorable in their matching bandana’s? (Even if they do have cats on them!) They even got their pearly whites cleaned this past Friday. We left the cities at 10:30 pm on Thursday and drove through pouring rain and lightning storms to get them to their 7:30 Friday morning appointment in GF. Why did we do this? Because we paid half the price of what the vets down here were charging. And because they are so worth it!

Thank you for stopping by the reunion this past weekend! It was so great to see you, even if we got in only a few minutes of catching up. I think you’re about due to come visit me down here though. (Hint hint…09/17)

Ben and I left GF early Saturday afternoon. We decided to skip out on the rest of the reunion weekend to get home and have Sunday to relax. We had a pretty exhausting previous weekend as well…we were in GF on Friday for my mom’s college graduation (yay mom!) and left at 5:00 am on Saturday to get to a wedding in Winona at 2:30. We dropped the boys off at home along the way and because Ben wasn’t sure if he would be able to attend the wedding or not, we hadn’t found a dog sitter for the night. SO, we had to drive back to the cities that night after the wedding (about a three hour drive). Phew. Just thinking about that makes me tired. We relaxed yesterday by catching a matinee, “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.” I really liked it. The effects reminded me of an old school nintendo game. (side note…Ben bought two ‘new’ old school nintendo games last week. It was quite entertaining watching his attempt to get them started in the old console. He was getting pretty red in the face blowing on them and the console. Do you remember doing that?! Hahaha)

Last week I brought in my mom’s old sewing machine to get tuned up and serviced. It should be ready next week and I am hoping they can show me how to work it! Then I can get started on a few upholstery projects I have been thinking about. But I do have some other things to share first, so I hope to get those posted by the end of the week. There. I said it. Now I just have to hold myself to it!

Cheers to my pretty little boys (with expensively good smelling breath),
love, famous

PS. Did Intern A. like all the references to pop culture the graduation speaker threw in? The Jersey Shore, Lilo, um, there were quite a few more, but so much has happened since then that I don’t remember! I DO remember sitting in the Fritz thinking that this was a perfect speech for her graduation and that she probably loved it! I hope she had a great time at her wedding the next day (I was also thinking about that as I saw her get her diploma)!

Some stuff

Famous,

How are you doing? Are you busy working on your house? At first I wanted to do every project and every room immediately. Now… whenever I get to it is just fine. I’ve pretty much finished up the bathroom, and my family brought up furniture for my living room. Hopefully I’ll get those pics to you soon! I’m still trying to do wall decor in the living room, but I’ll get there… whenever : )

I am organizing bookmarks on my computer (Yes. That is what I’m doing on a Friday evening.), and ran in to some stuff I tagged to share with you, and never did!

  • What I like to call “Hell No” yoga poses.
  • Maybe this guy will complete my bathroom.
  • If I used my bike as a main mode of transportation, I would invest in this basket.
  • This blog makes me laugh.

Now, I’m off to see Eat. Pray. Love. I bought the book, never read, and hope that maybe Julia will motivate me to want to read it. It’s getting average reviews so far, so I’m guessing maybe the book is better.

LOVE ME,

And Friday afternoon laptop clean up

Summer Movies

Spam,

One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to duck out of work early to catch a late afternoon movie. But this summer is flying by and I haven’t been able to enjoy this yet. The only movie popcorn I’ve had since Zombieland was while watching RPatz and a shirtless T.Lautner fight for a brooding K.Stew (yes…I fought swarms of teenage girls for a theater seat the day after the movie opened). Well, summer isn’t over yet and I still have a few opportunities to catch a few good flicks.
The Sorcerer’s Apprentice opened this past Wednesday. I don’t know if I’ve really liked Nicholas Cage in any movies besides the National Treasures, but I’ll chance it. Disney movies are usually entertaining.
Ramona and Beezus comes out July 23. I mentioned this one in a previous post, so I am excited it finally has a set opening date.
The Expendables. I just have to list off some of the actors to explain why: Sylvester Stalone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, and AHNAULD! I can’t believe the governor of CA is back making movies! (Well…he did say he would be…tee hee!) Anyways, even if this is just a loud, blow things up, and shoot people movie, it is definitely a must-see with all those big names in the credits. It comes out August 13.
..along with Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. A different kind of action movie, but this one looks pretty funny. How can you not smile at the dorkiness of Michael Cera?
And finally…Piranha 3-D. Did you ever watch the original? My siblings and I did…a lot. Along with Tremors. Both REALLY bad action/horror movies that ended up being a little funny.

Do you think I can get away with skipping out early five times over the course of the next month and a half?

Cheers to summer movies!

“I LIKE” Round-up

Hi Famous!

I’m so glad you visited this weekend. Our spin team was awesome! I really really really need to visit The Cities this summer. Maybe Jayson and I can do a weekend trip - baseball, shopping, visiting…

I still really need to get some house pictures up, but at least you got to stop by and see it in person! Since I don’t have house pictures, here are some other things I’d like to share - things I like right now.

See you soon!

LOVE ME,
and the fact that I asked for a new camera for Christmas, got it, and haven’t uploaded any pictures that I’ve taken with it, therefore leading me to randomness on the internet instead of uploading,

A Confession

Spam,

I have a confession. Well, we have a confession as I have to include Ben in this as well.

We like cheerleading movies.

It all started a few summers ago when we decided to get rid of cable. We had only the basic network channels, but for some reason ABC Family was part of the $14.99 monthly VERY basic package. (By the way, they don’t even mention this package when giving you options, you have to specifically ask for it.)

Anyways, ABC Family became our go-to channel. When nothing was on the major four channels, we turned to ABC Family to entertain us. Of course, we got hooked on America’s Funniest Home Videos (we laugh until we cry while watching that show), but that was only on a few nights during the week. The rest of the air-time was filled with movies. Most notably:

 ”Bring It On”

“Bring It On Again”

“Bring It On All or Nothing”

“Bring It On In It to Win It”

“Bring It On Fight to the Finish”

Yes. We have watched all of these movies.

More than once.

And we sometimes break out in cheer. Especially if I say, “Brr. It’s cold in here.” (This happens a lot, as we keep our house at a cool 65 degrees.) Ben will reply with the appropriate foot stamps and hand claps, “I said BRR. It’s cold in here. There must be some Torros in the atmosphere.”

Well, we’ve moved up in the world of cable and we now have the “big” plan. And we received three months free of movie channels when we transferred our account to our new house. A few weeks ago we were flipping through the movie channels and (of course) stopped when we saw pom poms. Now, I can’t recommend anyone watch the above five movies, but I will recommend “Fired Up!”

It is on the Netflix instant queue, so we watched the entire movie this past weekend. It is funny.

Cheers to cheers,
love, famous

I just don’t know if I’ll have the time…

Spam,

You totally beat me to it! Yes, I watch the audition rounds of American Idol. I totally fall for the backstories and root for the underdogs. So, I absolutely LOVED “The General” and his “Pants on the Ground” song! I can’t wait to see him again at the finale, because you know they are going to bring this guy back. I had to watch last night’s episode alone. Ben sat through Tuesday night with me and I think he actually enjoyed it, but didn’t want to admit it, so went to another room to play video games last night. He did join me later for the season premiere of Leverage though. This is our new favorite show. And my other favorite show, Criminal Minds, is also on Wednesday nights. This one overlaps with AI, so I only caught the last half hour. Our DVR can only record two shows at once and you have to watch one of the shows that are recording. So, I wasn’t able to watch Modern Family last night. You got me hooked on that one. But at least I can watch that online. There are so many good shows starting again! Another Project Runway starts tonight. And don’t forget that the Golden Globes are this weekend. It’s a good thing I have Monday off because they usually run past my bedtime!

Phew.

And now on to the movies. Where do I start? Maybe with the ones opening the soonest…

Extraordinary Measures (Jan. 22) only because it is really close to what I do…Dear John (Feb. 5) based on a Nicholas Sparks novel. I have never read one yet (I’m not much of a romantic), but this one may be the first…Valentine’s Day (Feb. 12) because even though I’m not a romantic, I still love a good rom-com…Alice in Wonderland (Mar. 5) because, well, I don’t even need to explain this one…Remember Me (Mar. 12) because it will be fun to see RPattz NOT being a vampire…Green Zone (Mar. 12)…because Matt Damon is playing a Jason Bourne-esque role and he looks so good while doing that…Ramona and Beezus (Maybe Mar. 29…imbd says Aug. 13) because I read ALL the Ramona Quimby books as a child and Selena Gomez is in it…Kick Ass (Apr. 16) because Ben is REALLY looking forward to this one and it does look hilarious!

That will get me through winter. And to the next season of Glee. I think I may be going through withdrawls…

Cheers to buttery, movie-theater popcorn (I can almost taste it now),
love, famous

PS. I love that you pointed out the Sioux logo. Seriously, if I see someone down here wearing Sioux gear, I first check to see if I know them (because that is likely since ND has such a small population), then I smile at them. And it’s not weird because EVERYONE from Nodak does it. Also, if I see Nodak license plates, I check to see if I know the driver. Ben still makes fun of me for that one.

Can’t wait!

Famous!

Happy 2010! I have two things I’m anxiously awaiting for this year. One in the music category, the other in the movie category.

First - Nikki & Rich
I would describe them as “new school,” a term I’m making up. Their music is the new style of some old school  stuff  (similar to the new school stylings of Amy Winehouse or Duffy). But they describe themselves best as: Lauryn Hill meets The Supremes while hanging out with Alicia Keys listening to Outkast “Hey Yah”

I’ve posted videos below. I dare you to not shake or tap a body part! LOVE it.

Second - Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland
See the trailer on the website above, or here. What gorgeous and kooky make-up!

Nikki & Rich:

Aren’t they lovely!

LOVE ME,
And my new knocker (Yep, I got one new knocker). More on that later… it’s something else I’m anxiously awaiting!

Best of…

Famous!

Did you have a fantastic Holiday? I was in Canada, and although I missed time with my family, I had a wonderful time with my wanna-be-family (no, nothing round and shiny - just fulfilling the request). It was our first full-family vacation - Me, Jayson, Ruby, and Max!

Since 2010 is a few days away, I figured there are all kinds of ‘best of 2009′ lists out there.  So I’ll just share a few (ok, more than a few) here. You’ll need plenty of spare time, because once you start clicking, you’ll click to something else, and then something else. Celeb lists are always my favorite, so you’ll find plenty of those in my round up, along with a few other things I know you and I both enjoy. Can you believe this year took us from Joaquin Phoenix and this ridiculous interview to Tiger a.k.a. Cheetah (with at least 13 spots and counting)!

And I saved the best for last:

Happy 2010!
LOVE ME,
And since everyone is concerned with what to call this upcoming decade (the teens? the tens?), I read the word ‘Tenennium’ somewhere. I don’t know. I keep saying, “0′ ten” even though that’s not correct. I might stick with it. “0′ 11, 0′12, 0′13. It works…

Someone is in trouble!

Famous,

Have you seen a recent comment on my facebook posted by my cousin!?! He’s congratulating me on getting married… I suppose when people are anxiously waiting for good news, any mention of the ‘m’ word gets family talking. Yikes. Sorry, Jayson! First, I blame my G-ma, who most likely discussed it with my aunt, who mentioned it to my cousin. Remember the telephone game from childhood. Messages certainly take a turn in another direction.

Then I blame me, for even bringing up the topic! This is what happened… As soon as Ellen was announced the next AI judge, I called my G-ma. I probably call her about once every 3 months or so. Then, the next day, Patrick Swayze died. I had to call G-ma again because when I was growing up, every time I visited her, Dirty Dancing was our movie, at least until Pretty Woman (Don’t worry, parents, she made me close my eyes during the naughty parts, and I didn’t understand the adult topics anyway). During the big dance scene at the end, we would always point out the people who most likely represent our family - “Oh, there’s aunt Kim. Look, that’s me and Mary Lou.” We would also stay up until about 3 in the morning playing Bubble Bobble on the original Nintendo! Back to the topic…

So because I was calling her for the second day in a row, she said she assumed I was calling to share some exciting news with her, i.e. the ‘m’ word. But instead, I was calling with news of a celebrity death.

So somewhere in there, my cousin heard I was getting married. Oh well. It’s no secret that I’m patiently waiting (I love you, honey!!).

LOVE ME,
and my wonderful, anxious, AI watching, Dirty Dancing watching G-ma,
