float, eat, laugh, dance, love, and more

Famous,

Floating in a boat, but not in water, in air - how cozy does this look:

I found it on lace and tea. They link it to unstitched, but I couldn’t find the post. However, that is also a new blog I will browse regularly! Unstitched led me to Freya. Aren’t these prints great! This is one of my favorites:

Eat drink dance sing

LOVE ME,

And the fact that I: do eat, heartily; always drink joyfully; absolutely always dance with abandoned; wish I could sing unshamedly; can’t help but laugh freely; believe in loving generously, probably too generously; will always try my best to live with no regrets! (See, isn’t that print fantastic).

A little nook

Spam,

It’s been awhile. I apologize. But I do have a new project to share!

We have a funny little space by our front door. It’s perfectly fit for our two small dog kennels, which are an eyesore if they are the first thing you see when you enter. So, I decided to cover them up.

table11

Sorry for the lighting. Today was dark and rainy, so the pictures didn’t turn out that great but I was anxious and couldn’t wait for sunshine. Anyways, I cut a piece of plywood to fit the corner and then Ben added legs (2X2 pieces of wood). The table is VERY rudimentary, but it will never be seen so that’s not a problem. I just hope it doesn’t collapse! I bought two table cloths from Target and cut pieces to exactly fit the sides and top. Then I used iron-on bonding for the seams and to attach the pieces together. I stapled extra fabric around the corners to cover the legs so you can’t ses any part of the table. This also makes the cover look pleated at the corners. I didn’t make panels for the two sides against the wall and I am thinking of using that fabric for a pillow that will go on the couch in that room.

I still have to add a few things to the table and I may paint the mirror’s frame. I am going to wait until I start decorating the rest of the room to decide.

Here are the kennels. We leave the table cloth up when the boys are in them!

More pictures to come. I promise!

Did you go to the big garage sale in town this past weekend? My mom went and said it was crazy! And any good booths at ArtFest this year? Fill me in! I miss ArtFest especially.

Cheers to checking off one more project (almost),

One down…

A few more to go.

Spam, I finished decorating our bedroom. We moved in at the end of February and it is now the beginning of May. Two months per room? That’s not a bad timeline.

mb32

This is looking into the bedroom from the doorway. The big flowered thing behind the bed is a piece of drywall wallpapered with Graham and Brown’s Tempting. (Of course, I found it cheaper on another site.) I had to used drywall because to prep a piece of plywood for wallpapering was a lot of work and spendy. The piece of drywall was about $4 and I didn’t need to prep it with anything!

View from the other side of the room…

mb2

The baskets underneath the nightstands are so handy! They are full of clothes that would’ve been laying on the floor, books, and magazines. It definitely keeps the room a bit tidier.

mb5

Other side of the room. Here’s just the dresser…

mb4

I bought the vase from an asian antique store by my dentist’s office (a quick detour before going back to work!). Sunny Sky Asian Antiques and Gifts. The owner, Qing, is such a doll and she was so helpful. I was worried the vase was going to be too big to set on top of this dresser, so we hauled the vase around the store until we found a piece of furniture of about the same height and width. And she said I could return it if it didn’t work out. But, if it didn’t work out on the dresser, I would’ve just had to find a different place for it, because it is AMAZING! And will you believe that it was on sale AND I got a second piece of ceramic work for free?! That one will be worked into the decor of another room, so you’ll just have to wait!

I am really happy with how it turned out. Even though I strayed quite a bit from my mood board. Oh well!

Cheers to one complete room,

What are you doing in September?

Fame,

First, I tried Zumba last night. I’ll probably go back. I did a pretty good workout Monday and was slightly sore yesterday, and now I’m just still sore, and I don’t know if it’s from the booty shaking (my favorite part of Zumba). My hips, they do not do what the instructors hips can do!

Second, in honor of the bicycling Santa, I’m visiting you in September. And I’m staying with you. And I might bring a friend or two. And you are going to go with us to… Da da da DAAA… JUNK BONANZA! Have you ever been to or heard of this wonderfulness of an event? My friend, Christy, introduced me to it. But unfortunately she has to work (Christy -  maybe if you’re lucky, I’ll bring you some junk).

I’m not really going to bring a caravan of people to your home, but I do think I know about one or two people who would like to take the visit with me. If you look at one thing on that website, look at the list of vendors. Yowza.

LOVE ME,

And the junk pile I’m going to be hauling home,

The Big Reveal

Hi Spam,

So, it took us longer than a day, but only because we had to hunt down some supplies (nailhead trim and furniture legs). But our hunt ended successfully and last night we slept in our new, grown-up bed.

And it didn’t collapse.

The first test of strength and stability.

Whew. It was a lot of work, but well-worth it. It ended up to be about $300 total and not too much frustration, tears, or sweat. I am typing with band-aids on my fingers though. The nailhead trim was sharp.

So, with just a few hundred bucks and a couple drops of blood, we are now officially grown-ups. I think I am going to take a weekend off, maybe pick up a few paint samples, then paint and accessorize to finish off the bedroom in a couple of weeks. Over the next five days I have to teach seven classes (six spin and one circuit), so I think there will be a lot of couch time in between.

Cheers to our first grown-up bed,

PS. Do you know who is the mentor tonight on AI? I feel it is kind of ridiculous, but I won’t judge until I see the show.

a bed post

Spam,

Ben and I both have today off. We are attempting to make a bed frame and headboard. I will check back with pictures…either of a new bed or of a pile of lumber and fabric.

Our goal is to make it for under $250 (less than a third of what it would be to purchase one and have it shipped or delivered). Also, I’d like to get it all done by the end of the day.

Cheers to being ambitious,

My MoodBoard

Hi Spam,

Love the moodbards! I created an account at mydeco, but I couldn’t figure out how to upload my own photos. Totally user error, as my computer is REALLY slow and I have a lack of computer skilz (thank god I am married to a geek!). However, your inspirational moodboards totally came at the right time. I hit a roadblock for decorating our bedroom. I just purchased this duvet (don’t think I am mad, I did NOT pay that price), but was having a hard time planning a room around it. UNTIL THIS MORNING!! Check out my plan (I have butterflies in my tummy I am so excited!):

bedroom_final2

Here is a list of everything:

Duvet: Barbarra Barry Duvet (I did order it from royaldesignerlinens.com, but it was on a GREAT sale).
Sheets: Target, Thomas O’Brien Khaki sheet set, $69.99
Pillows: Fabric is pelagos by Windsor Smith and hot house flowers by Celerie Kemble (I got the picture from Caitlin Wilson Design style files blog…check it out. Love her!)
Bed: bedroomfurnituremart.com, nail button upholstered low profile bed in duck-natural, $549.99
Chair: overstock.com, Macedonia chair, $165.99
Side tables: overstock.com, Ebony finish square tray table, $133.99
Dresser: already ours

I just copied and pasted individual pictures into a word document, then copied that by hitting ctrl-print screen and pasted it into Paint and saved it as a JPEG (incase you want to try it too!). It worked well and I was able to use pictures of exactly the items I want.

NowI can’t wait to get started on this room. I have to bring backsome sheets that didn’t work, then I am going to hunt these down at a Target. THEN, I’ll have to save my pennies for the rest!

Cheers to you for helping me overcome my roadblock!

PS. I am getting so mad at the AI judges this season. “Change up the song to make it your own.” “You changed it too much–the song was unrecognizable.” “Don’t dance.” “You do better when you dance.” Arg. No wonder the contestants are throwing up before they perform!

I heart moodboards

Famous,
I’ve found something really fabulous to assist in redecorating a home. Not just moodboards, but a place online to create your own moodboard specifically for your home design, and I heart it. Here’s what I’ve completed so far…

Bathroom! Grey walls with white, yellow, black accents

Bathroom - Grey walls with white and silver fixtures, and yellow and black accents

Living room - sage walls, tan and brown furnishings, and warm accent colors

Living room - sage walls, tan and brown furnishings, and warm accent colors

It’s true that you can’t be incredibly picky. The site doesn’t offer exactly the items or colors you may be looking for, but at least you can find inspiration if your starting from scratch.

Note: If you plan to use the mydeco feature, create an account before you begin your mood board, otherwise you won’t be able to save your hard work! There is also a feature for designing a 3D room that I have not attempted - just seems like too much work, and I’m not that motivated.

Tonight I’m tackling wallpaper removal for the first time. I know it’s not difficult, just time consuming. Cross your fingers that there is only one layer! That’s what I’m dreading - to start peeling away the flowers to see… MORE FLOWERS! NOOOOOO!

Do you have any plans for the weekend?

Since I’m on a home design, interior style kind of kick this weekend, I just love The Selby. Some of my personal faves:

My new knocker

Yep, just one! I guess I’ll get the other one later - saving up! Jayson suggested buying one for the back door so he could tell everyone he bought me a pair of knockers for Christmas.

Famous,

ONE: I’m excited for our closing date next Friday - how are things going for you guys?

TWO: Are you visiting this weekend?

THREE: If you are, we need to hook up with Shawna. I don’t spend as much time with her her as I would like. Maybe it’s because she makes my back end look like a ba-donk-a-donk.

bigbutt

FOUR: I’m going to a convention in Austin (Yay!) the first week that we move into our new house (Boo).

FIVE: I hope you are in GF this weekend.

LOVE ME,

And… my Sir Mix-a-Lot big butt, and I cannot lie, you other brothers can’t deny…
