Seriously, Famous.
This is the most boring episode ever! At least Crystal Bowersox can sing. Yes, another mellow song like everyone else, but at least she belted a few notes. And I know she can sing, but its easy for her to look good when everyone is songing ho-hum sleepy songs. I’m so disappointed.
I would listen to a few of these people if they were current artists, but they are not competitors. And Lily’s earrings looked like lint balls from my dryer.
LOVE ME,
And my droopy eyes because 8 girls just sang me to sleep,

P.S. I used ’songing’ on purpose. That’s for my sister!

He’s the judge… and he didn’t know it.

Famous!

Today I wanted to talk about the guys on AI. Last week I gave my females’ opinion, but because they switched it up - you get girl talk again.

Jayson’s the judge, and he didn’t even know it. He actually watched again last night, and when he went into the laundry room he requested I turn it up so he could keep listening. He’s hooked a bit… whether he admits it or not. Unbeknownst to him, I took note of his comments. Here we go.

“If she gets kicked off, I’m not watching anymore.” Didi is obviously one of his faves.

“They’re on crack.” He did not approve of Michelle’s performance. Kara thought it was her best ever, and even Simon liked it.

“She’s got a little John Mayer in her. I like her, but I can’t watch her.” This is about Lily’s facial expressions. Some time ago Jayson had mentioned to me that when John Mayer sings, he looks like he’s trying to wriggle out of his skin.

Another Lily moment, “Feather’s in her hair?” Ellen commented that you hear people say, “You’ve got it,” Ellen doesn’t know what ‘it’ is, but Lily’s got it. “Feathers in her hair?”

“She’s got a fat girl’s voice, just when she talks.”  This was during Katelyn’s little video package. I don’t get it, but I laughed out loud when he said it.

“Are there any rockers on this show?”

“So many boring songs.” I actually agree.

My opinion - Thank you, Paige and Siobhan, for picking up the mood. And thank you Siobhan for hitting that wonderful high note that I had to rewind so Jayson could see it. He was fixing something in the bathroom and really wanted me to be impressed, but I was more impressed with you at this moment. He noticed.

I won’t repeat what he has to say about Kara. He is definitely not fond of her, even if he agrees with her. But most of the time he agrees with Simon, especially when Simon looks at Kara and says, “I have no idea what you just said.”

And finally, “He has 7 words in his vocabulary,” referring to Randy. At this point Jayson may have caught on to what I was doing, because he looked at me and said, “Go ahead. You can write that down.”

MY FAVES:
Didi, Lily, Katelyn, and yes… Siobhan that funny, odd, little thing.
Lee, Andrew, Alex (even with his awkward cowboy mullet), and Michael.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend. What do you have planned? I’m excited you are coming in April for the spin-a-thon thing. How’s the house stuff coming along?

LOVE ME,

And my very own personal, live-in, AI judge who got the downstairs bathtub to drain while I was swooning over Siobhan’s big note,

I’m the judge

Famous,

First, Jayson keeps saying that Simon is his hero. I love it. At least he’s watching AI with me!

Secondly, there are still too many girls to choose faves and try to guess who is going to get booted off. But my favorite judge’s line of the night came from Randy, and I think it was to Katelyn. He said, “I think you can go places and do stuff.” Haha, what a wonderful, in-depth, professional, and motivating comment.

Thirdly, in no particular order, here are the female contestants that I enjoyed (keeping in mind I have no musical profession or technical experience, so my opinion is just as important as Ellen’s).

Katelyn, Lilly, and Didi - all sang well and didn’t butcher or change up the original song too much. Katelyn did the best, but of course the judges didn’t love her as much as I did.

Haeley, Lacey, and Siobhan - all took a great classic song and did something a little strange with it, and as weird as they may have sounded, I really enjoyed it. Even if Haeley can’t hit the high notes and screams a little - she’s 16 and nothing about her style is predictable!

I’m excited for the male contestants tonight! I missed the week of Hollywood performances, so everyone of them tonight is a surprise to me.

Finally, last night I went on a short round-about rant about how inconsistent the judges advice is sometimes, but my rant was easily summed up by Kara (my friend, not the judge): “Don’t be predictable, but be yourself.”

HOW CAN THEY BE THEMSELVES IF YOU DON’T WANT THEM TO BE PREDICTABLE? And, not to mention, they are OK with some people being themselves (dreadlock girl). That’s all. If they keep it up, I’m going to be pretty annoyed. Not that my opinion matters to anyone but myself. But, it’s very important to me. And today, I’m the judge.

LOVE ME,

and my opinion, and my Simon-man-crushing bf,

Sioux-lebrity, Pants on the Ground, Donate to Haiti

Famous,

Help me compare these two plays on words. Do you prefer Josh Sioux-mel or Sioux-lebrity? Because I think Sioux-lebrity kicks Jayson’s punny butt in this round.

Well, here he is… The SIOUX-LEBRITY!

And, not sure if you ever watch the audition episodes of American Idol, but this is my first time thouroughly paying attention to them. In the past I occasionally caught the early episodes, but mostly watched the show once it narrowed contestants down to 24 or 12. Well, this is a new year, and Jayson does not appreciate it. He literally threw up in his mouth during the show tonight. Don’t know if it was a coincidence or not, but he made sure I knew that it happened while he was watching AI. He only EVER agrees with Simon.  I’m all for watching these audition episodes, as long as there is always a 62-year-old general with an original song.

Also, on a more serious note: There is a donation option to help Haiti by texting “Haiti” to 90999 to send a $10 donation to the Red Cross.

LOVE ME,

Now pull up your pants, you fool with your hat turned sideways.

Thank you, America.

Famous,
Did you watch the Amer. Idol finale? I did not catch it. However, it’s all the talk … this supposed upset. I don’t consider it to be an upset, and I’d like to personally thank the 100 million (yes, ONE HUNDRED MILLION) votes that came in to recognize Kris Allen as this season’s Idol winner.

Let me start by saying, I’m not totally against Adam. He is no doubt creative, talented, entertaining, and artistic. And I’m usually a big fan of guyliner. However, his dad mentioned something on Tuesday about how as a baby, Adam used to cry and scream for hours at a time. OK. Now, imagine an entire album of this. Like I said, he is talented and can definitely wail. Hitting those screaming high notes is not an easy feat. I just don’t want 80 minutes and 10 songs of his voice. He belongs on stage, doing something over the top, and yes, in drag.

So, I think this is how Kris pulled it off. He’s absolutely adorable. He can actually play a few instruments. And he’s kind of got a swooning, comfortable voice. It is without question that he stepped it up for the finale performance. Never have I liked him so much as when he performed, for the second time, Ain’t No Sunshine. But the key is that every week, as a contestant who is not Adam was eliminated, that contestant’s fans had to vote for the next not-Adam performer. So eventually, especially the Gokey fans, had to choose between Adam and not-Adam. All of the Danny, Anoop, Scott, Matt, and Kris fans ended up creating a larger voting base than the screaming guyliner fans. Not to take anything away from Kris. He’s talented and can sing, and will have plenty of girls to cougars downloading his music. He’s got a style similar to John Mayer, only since he’s married, I hope he won’t have the man whore reputation.

Congratulations Kris Allen, (and isn’t his wife just adorable, too - pic #5)

My AI reply.

Famous,
Poor Kilik. And what a picture! He looks so pitiful! How do you fix slipped discs in dogs? Is it surgical?

So, Anoop and Lil’ are out. It was kind of expected I think. Anoop is actually a wonderful singer. Such a good voice. Lil’ just had absolutely no spunk or personality. I do have one thing to say that bothers me about Lambert, even though I think he’s a great performer. I think that because his covers are completely altered, and so outlandish and unexpected, and have been from day one, that the judges are OK with it. Because it seems if one of the other contestants tries to alter the melody or something just a little, it “didn’t work” for the judges. Just didn’t sound right, or, OR, the hypocritical one that gets me - “That’s such a classic song, that to you don’t need to change it up like that.” ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME? HELLO, ALL OF ADAM’S PERFORMANCES. I’m inventing a new verb - Lambert. If any other contest were to Lambert  a song, they judges wouldn’t get it and Simon would think it was absolutely horrific. Only Lambert can Lambert.

That’s all I have to say about that.

Blogmit.

Fame,
I’m jealous. In all my adventures I’ve not been to NYC. And the Ritz? Schmancy! My favorite picture is your umbrella picture. Way to take one thing at the art museum that is not art and turn it into art. Ha. But I do really like it.

Blogmit is a new word I just invented to encompass exactly what I’m writing to you right this minute. It’s just a bunch of random stuff pouring out onto this page for you! It’ my new slang term for blog vomit.

I’m heading out of town for two days (annual TRiO conference). It’s in Nisswa, MN. Exciting.  So I’ve got a few things to leave you with for the weekend, even though it’s only Tuesday. But you know what Tuesday means - AMERICAN IDOL!

AI:
Not one of the Lambert groupies, but he pretty much rocked tonight with Born to be Wild. Pretty dang awesome. Even his high-pitched screamy singy stuff. Every week I become a bigger and bigger Allison Iraheta fan. Today, I missed the first 10 minutes, and she performed first. I did catch the judges telling her she’s definitely in the running for winning, and it was an impressive performance because they hadn’t heard a girl sing it before. So I HAD to look it up, and she sang Aerosmith’s, Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.  And one more thing, a lot of girls are Kris Allen lovers. He sang Falling Slowly from the movie Once.  I just loved that movie, and that song. (It will play when you go to the movie page).

SUGARLAND:
Um, coming up this Thursday. I mentioned I’m excited? I definitely will update you with all the great details. Remember our Bon Jovi seats? Well, I’m in the 6th row for this concert. Woo Woo.

DOCUMENTARY Review Preview:
I will also let you know how I feel about the Michael Moore doc, Sicko one of these days. Have you seen it? I know that Moore is completely one-sided, and he would never show any footage of anything opposing his view, but I’m still have just a couple of things to mention, but later.

And finally, I’m loving the weather. I’ll leave you with pictures from last weekend. We had an anonymous visitor in our backyard, and Ruby couldn’t get enough! They ran and ran and ran. Well, the visitor tried to, then she’d just lay there while Ruby stared at her. Awesome, huh? Considering the daycare incidents and the fact I won’t take her to the dog park for fear of her being the first dog with a picture posted on the fence claiming, “If this is your dog, stay out!”

Judge #5

Famous,
I love the first pair of Jessica Simpson shoes (the one with the bow thing) and I really like the Seychelles. Adorable. You should definitely practice walking in those heels if you were falling in your boots! Are there any taller bridesmaids, because I would certainly tower if I wore those heels.

I can’t believe it’s Wednesday of spring break already. Time is flying. The not-in-laws are leaving today, and Jayson. I’ll have the house to myself for the rest of the week! We all went out to dinner last night, and then home for television! I missed the first half of American Idol, but I recorded the second half. As I watched it, the newest member of the judging panel, Judge Jayson, put in his two cents. And while I have no video to share to prove his comments (except for a craptastic video of someone’s TV for the Lambert song),
some of my favorite critiques from Judge #5 include :

Megan Corkrey - “She dances like a robot.”

My thoughts: He should have seen her last week. She definitely had some awkward dance moves last week with Rockin Robin, and I think she tried to keep them under wraps during this performance of Walkin After Midnight. But, she is still a little jerky. I LOVE  her unique voice, and she’s beautiful. And even though it’s not a beautiful tattoo - I’m kinda diggin it.

Michael Sarver - “He doesn’t finish the words. He sounds like Fire Marshal Bill.”
My thoughts: We didn’t actually see his performance, just a clip during the recap. Jayson made me rewind it just to verify he didn’t pronounce the last sound of some of the words. I’m not sure about Michael. I don’t really remember last week, and I missed this week.

And Judge #5’s favorite - Adam Lambert (WARNING: Crappy youtube video).  Didn’t have much to say, just rolled his eyes. However, he spent the rest of the night performing Ring of Fire in the key of whatever-the-hell-Adam-did-to-this-classic-song. And it was fabulous. I wish I had been wired and had a hidden camera.
My thoughts: Not sure. I think Adam is trying to hard.

He actually imitated all three  performers the rest of the night. He was a robotic Fire Marshall Bill Singing an emo Ring of Fire.

My favorites are Gokey and Corkrey (even with her quirky moves).

And my very own, personal Idol judge,
