Kryptonite…

Fame,
Last night I went to a combined jewelry/purse party. How do you walk away from that empty handed? It’s impossible.

I’ve never been to this particular brand of jewelry party, though. It’s Stella & Dot. Have you heard of it? The most common comparison I hear is that it’s similar to J.Crew style jewelry. I found that some of the pieces are pricey and some are affordable. But of course all of the embroidered bracelets I like are over $100. Yet,  DEFEAT! I conquered, maintained self-control and did not purchase one!

Here are some of my fave pieces, pricey and affordable. They have earrings, pendants, brooches, and rings, but I’m a sucker for big bold necklaces and bracelets!

Natasha Embroidered Bib Necklace - a crowd favorite

Bloom Flower Necklace - Red

Charlize Wood Necklace

Ella Dove Necklace - Not so bold, and for some reason I’m a sucker for bird things lately

Alanna Embroidered Cuff

Selma Brooch Cuff

Zoe Bracelet in Turqoise - not so bold

If any of my family or friends reading just happen to be wondering what my gift wish list  for the upcoming holiday shopping is - please click links above! I did not purchase any jewelry (well, not for myself). I did cave in slightly on the purses, though!

I’m bound and determined to know out holiday shopping well in advance. Yes, mid-November shopping is well in advance for me.

Have any fun weekend plans?

LOVE ME,
And my victorious self-control over kryptonite,

Grand Cities Art Fest

Hello Famous, my little traveler!

How was Chicago? Shopping? Food? Attractions? Adventures? Pictures? What do you have to share? I’m counting down to Austin and South Padre Island - we leave the 19th!

It’s been almost 5 full years since I”ve moved to GF! How about that? And finally, I made it to the Grand Cities Art Fest! And, I am a fan. And, I spent money. I spent more money on a purse than I have ever spent. But I couldn’t stop thinking about them, so I had to go back the next day and give in!

Before I give you a few dot coms to check out, I also have to mention Tessa Hiney, owner and designer of Tessori Jewelry. It’s trendy, beautiful, unique, and handmade! She is a local GF artist, but unfortunately does not have a website listed on her business card. Her jewelry is sold at Picky Girlz Boutique, and I intend to buy something in the future! Unfortunately, the online shop on the web isn’t working - sorry.

Also, here are a couple of other artist links:

  • Michelle Brusegaard - originally from GF, now located in the cities I believe. Contemplated a jersey scarf, but opted to wait and purchase later. I was indecisive on more than one occasion. And remember, no summer paychecks, so I had to set limits.
  • Rebecca Sefcovic Uglem - mostly creates funky things for funky babies and adults! I’ll be needing a gift for a baby boy within the next month, so I keeping her bookmarked! Becka and Amy Lyste opened Third Street Gallery on Kittson in GF. If you have not visited this gallery, I suggest doing so next time you are in town!
  • And finally, Rebekah Scott Designs - the artist who creates the un-walk-awayable purses. You can create your own, and she will mail it with no extra shipping charges. I can’t find the fabric pattern I chose on her page, but I did choose the Genesis style. Pockets surround the inside, and it just looks organized. Not that I really carry much, but if each item I carry has a pocket (phone, keys, wallet, puffy, mouth harp), there won’t be anything scattered about in the bottom! If you can find it, I chose the Margarita pattern. Her website doesn’t do the actual products justice. I’ll have to take a picture of mine once it arrives!

In a nutshell, those are the reasons I had to go back on Sunday. Other arts included photography, paintings, yard ornaments, clothing, jewelry, wood work, ceramics, etc. I’m sure you’ve been to it so I don’t have to tell you, but I was impressed.

I will still be working on wedding pics this week, and I’ll try and share some faves with you. Here are a few.
